Stay Grounded – The New Video From Do The Green Thing
Leave the first response January 28, 2009 / Posted in VideosThe people over at Do The Green Thing have come up with yet another inspiring and thought provoking video and this time it’s about planes and CO2. They filmed planes as they left vapour trails around the Heathrow Airport area and then put the footage together to create a short film showing the vapour trails as scars. The idea is to demonstrate the constant damage this mode of transport is doing to the planet.
The piece is brilliantly put together and is accompanied by a simple but distinctive soundtrack. According to the blurb it was created using the Brian Eno iPhone application Bloom.
There’s very little information included in the film, except to tell you that in the time it takes you to watch 60 seconds of footage over 10,000 planes have contributed to noise and CO2 pollution, so it’s not preachy in anyway – just thought provoking.
Heathrow remains firmly in the news, especially with the possibility that there will be the third runway and sixth terminal expansion. However, whilst pollution continues in the skies there are attempts to try and make the ground works a little more eco friendly.
According to Holiday Lettings new eco friendly pods to carry passengers to Terminal 5. The Ultra A pods emit no CO2 and should be an improvement on the existing shuttle bus service.
