The Roberts SolarDab Radio is No Wind Up!

Following on from the success of the wind up radio it makes sense that the evolution will be to solar power. Step forward then the Roberts SolarDAB Digital Radio. Available in five colours (black, red, green, pink and white) with a solar strip at the top, the radio retails at a reasonable £79.99.

The radio can be operated from either the mains or from batteries (complete with a built-in battery charger) and of course there’s the option to charge up via solar power. This is a much better option than a wind up radio and means you can sit outside and enjoy the British summer knowing that your radio is using nature’s very own energy (well provided the sun is shining for any length of time).

Apart from the solar power option the radio is pretty much a decent DAB radio. It comes with 10 radio station pre-sets and 1 watt total power output, however there’s no FM Tuner included – which isn’t much good if you’re out in the sticks hoping to chill out to some tunes only to discover there’s a poor DAB signal.
